Because of the rapidly increasing technology these days it seems like we're all connected to each other, and if not yet we easily do via our social media. In this work Disconnected Distopia I used images of google earth to create height-maps. From my desk at home I could walk trough the streets of Berlin, I could climb a volcano in Indonesia without getting exhausted, I could see the world from an bird perspective. With a little more technology (like VR glasses) I could even experience other parts of the world in real time. By spending some time in this area we are connected to it, we know the place. We are connected to our friends on facebook, even if we never saw them in real?

I'm wondering how long it will take for us to only use our devices to feel connected to each other. I'm fearing a dystopia in which we're satisfied enough with digital contact, I'm fearing a dystopia in which we destroy the human nature of physical contact.

In a dystopia in the near future humans don't understand the growth of nature. Technology is more accessible than ever and this leads to disconnection with the plants and nature around us. we won't only lose our connection with this nature but we will also lose the human nature of physical contact. We won't only experience a disconnection, we even destroy our nature.

I'm wondering how long it will take for us to only use our devices to feel connected to each other. I'm fearing a dystopia in which we're satisfied enough with our digital contact,

I'm fearing a dystopia in which the nature blends into technology, and we won't even see this metamorphosis, as we think it changes slowly but in fact we become blind for nature.

A world where we won't come outside, where we won't see how the world really looks like and where we just believe what we see on our screens. How far are we verwijderd from this dystopia.

I'm fearing a dystopia in which we destroy the human nature of physical contact.

In the dystopia of the near future we'll enter a new geological era. After this Antropoceen in which we live now and where humans overrule the planet earth, it is time for us to give the power back to nature. Nature will live in symbiosis with the technology we invented, and even though we expect this era to be a dystopia it might be our salvation
